Acrylic on board, 8 inches x 10 inches. This is a painting of a scene in Brenham, Texas, about eight years ago. We haul a 14-foot trailer using a Ford Expedition. We travel from Marietta, Georgia, to antique shows from Washington, D.C., to Round Top, Texas.
We had driven about 800 miles from Marietta on our way to Brenham, TX, between Houston and Austin. Coming through Houston, we were warned by other drivers that there was something wrong with one of the four tires on the trailer. We pulled over to the side of Interstate 610 around 5 P.M. One tire was damaged, and we couldn’t drive any further. About an hour later, a towing company sent two of their drivers with a trailer.
About four hours later, our trailer was pulled up onto the bed of their truck. We started on a 65-mile trek to the Hampton Inn in Brenham. Our trailer barely fitted onto the bed, and we were concerned it might fall off. Fortunately, two hours later, we arrived at our hotel, and our trailer was lowered to the ground. The next day, a repair shop sent one of their trailers, and hauled our trailer to their garage. For about $2,000 we had our trailer repaired, and were ready to do our show at Marburger Farm Antiques Show in Round Top Texas.
I laid down a black ground on a hardboard panel. Using Titanium white, red, neutral grey, and Payne’s gray after sketching the trailers and truck.
