Acrylic on Canvas, 11 x 14 in

This painting was completed in a seascape’s course on Art Tutor with Becky Samuelson.  It’s the second course I’ve taken with Becky Samuelson and like the first, it was outstanding.  However, please don’t judge her teaching by my painting.

When I started her class, I thought I might paint on a large canvas, 20 x 24 in, but in the end I wasn’t satisfied with it, so I did the final painting on an 11 x 14 in canvas.  My mistake on the larger canvas was the scale of the drawing.  By reducing the size of the canvas, and making a very careful drawing, I felt that the 11 x 14 could be put up on the site.

For interest sake, I’ve included a picture of the larger canvas.  The areas that I blocked out in yellow ochre were parts that I just didn’t like.  I’ll return to this canvas in time, and perhaps put a beach and a coast line in the yellow ochre spaces.

I’ve also included a picture of my painting of St. Helen’s Quay rendered as a watercolor using the App Waterlogue. Just upload your picture into Waterlogue, and choose from a dozen of settings to create different shades and colors of your picture.  I chose the ‘natural’ setting to “watercolor” my acrylic painting.
