Theo’s Self Portrait

This painting is the first of several I am doing based on blog post by Matt Abraxas on the Art Tutor website. Matt’s blog post, The Painted Quick Sketch focuses on composition and gesture, value and chroma, and color temperature. Starting with a color wash, he then has us paint in the darkest, the mid-tones and then lights. Five paintings are suggested, a self-portrait, a still life, a landscape, a figure, and a second self portrait.

I’ve completed two, the first self-portrait, and the still life, Blueberries in a Bowl.
